S. O. S. – Speaking of Seniors – At First, Client Blamed Us!

By Woodrow Wilcox

In March 2017, a client sent medical bills and other papers to me about her medical bills not getting paid.  The client is from La Porte, Indiana.

The papers were limited and did not tell the whole story.  I reviewed the papers and wrote a letter which would have corrected the problem if the information that I had were a complete picture.

But, more papers and more phone conversations with the client followed.  She thought that our agency or the insurance company that we recommended was causing problems with her medical bills and Medicare.  But, as I got more information, I realized that this was an unusual case of mixed up Medicare numbers and that Medicare was solely responsible for the problem.

I helped the client to file a complaint to an appropriate government office.  On July 17, 2017, I received and read a letter from a Medicare officer to our client in which Medicare confessed to causing the Medicare claims problem and promised to fix it promptly.

My efforts saved the client from being sued for bills that she really did not owe.  All the help that I gave the client was FREE OF CHARGE.  This insurance agency “goes the extra mile” to help our clients when such wrongful billing occurs.  Does your insurance agent or agency give this high level of service to senior citizen clients?  If not, why not switch to an agency that does?
